My areas of interest are astrophysical and space plasmas. I concentrate on kinetic, micro-physical effects in these plasmas that could lead to nonthermal particle acceleration/emission. These studies can be applicable to phenomena from the solar corona (solar flares) to nonthermal emission from accretion disks around black holes. My approach is numerical/theoretical, mainly using particle-in-cell (PIC) plasma simulations.
